Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa today said investment proposals totaling Rs 15,982 crore committed by 12 industries during the previous DMK government had yet to materialise in the state.
The companies, which made the commitment include Tata Steel, Indian Oil Corporation, and Moser Baer Infrastructure & Developers.
Speaking on the motion of thanks to the Governor for his address in the Assembly, Jayalalithaa said "industrial groups that had signed MoUs with the previous DMK government have not invested even a single rupee".

The chief minister was responding to DMK leader M K Stalin's claim that during the DMK regime between 2006 and 2011, the state attracted around Rs 62,000 crore.
"Tata Steel, which promised an investment of Rs 2,500 crore did not invest even a single rupee in the state. Similarly, Indian Oil Corporation (Rs 4,320 crore), Signet Solar (Rs 2,000 crore) and Moser Baer Infrastructure & Developers (Rs 2,000 crore), have not started anything here," Jayalalithaa said.
Major companies named in the CM's speech were not immediately available for a comment.
Rest of the companies had invested Rs 36,366.28 crore and this includes investments, which came post 2011 after the AIADMK government took charge of the state administration, she said.
Jayalalithaa claims in the last two-and-a- half years, investments worth Rs 29,558 crore were being implemented in the state and for projects worth Rs 10,660 crore, investments saw light after the current administration allotted land and granted other necessary permission.
She said 16 corporate houses had expressed their interest to invest Rs 42,400 crore in Tamil Nadu, which would be given a final shape in the next 1-2 months.
Quoting the Central Statistical Organisation, Jayalalithaa said in 2008-09, the number of industries in Tamil Nadu was 26,122, whereas they increased to 40,352 by the end of March, 2013.
UNHRC resolution against Sri Lanka after LS elections
Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa today said steps would be taken to bring in a resolution against Sri Lanka in the United Nations after the completion of general elections in the country.
"The AIADMK would be in a position to determine the policies of the central government. At that time, a resolution against Sri Lanka would be brought in the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and steps would be taken for its victory," she said.
Power tariff low in the state
Responding to a question of CPI(M) MLA Soundarajan, during the question hour session in the Assembly today, Tamil Nadu electricity minister Natham Vishwanathan said electricity tariff was very less in Tamil Nadu, when compared with the recently reduced tariff in New Delhi.
The minister said the state has a tariff of Rs 1.20 for 100 units consumption, whereas in Delhi it is Rs 2.75 even after the AAP government reduced prices recently.
He said in Tamil Nadu, power tariff for 300 units was lower at Rs 730, when compared with Rs 785 in Delhi, Rs 1,220 in Andhra Pradesh, Rs 1,990 in Gujarat and Rs 1,537 in Maharashtra.
Tamil Nadu was providing free electricity for agriculture and for around 1.36 million huts, besides subsidised power to looms.
