'Vedanta funded political parties in a transparent manner'

"Whatever we have done, it is in a transparent manner. There is none untouchable if it (funding) is permissible and legitimate. We do it in a very transparent manner," Agarwal told a private television channel replying to a question whether his company funded the Biju Janta Dal (BJD).

Agarwal said: "We are in a democratic society and it is legitimate to support democratic process."

The Vedanta Group head, who had met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik yesterday, justified corporate donation to political parties saying all over the world, parties required funds when elections came.
