10 houses gutted in fire in Kullu

At least 10 houses were gutted in a major fire at Kotla village in Banjar area of Kullu district, about 260 from here, today.

The fire broke out from one of the wooden houses and reduced the entire cluster of timber structures to ashes, police said, adding that relief and rescue teams have reached the spot and more details are awaited.

The cause of fire and the quantum of damage were yet to be ascertained but there was no loss of life, police said.

The district administration has directed the relief teams to provide temporary shelter and other necessary items to the affected people, besides giving interim relief.
