One person has been arrested today for allegedly abetting the suicide of his wife over dowry demands while five of the victim's in-laws are still absconding.
Aditi Sharma (28), who was married to Ram Mahajan three months ago had allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan of her house at Tibba Bazar here last Thursday, police said.
The victim's brother in his complaint alleged that she was being harassed and beaten up by her in-laws for not bringing dowry and cash which forced her to take the extreme step, they said.
On the basis of complaint, Ram Mahajan has been arrested while his brother Lakhan, father Naresh, mother Asha Rani, and sisters Arti and Sarita have been booked, police said, adding hunt is on to nab them.
