4 killed in road accident in Odisha

At least four persons died in two separate road accidents on National Highway-5 near Soro today, police said.

In a head-on collision between a dumper and a pick-up van, three people died on the spot and a motor cyclist died when a truck hit him from behind.

Both the accidents occurred in quick succession on National Highway 5 near Soro 35 km from here.

According to police, the dumper was going from south to north direction but suddenly it ran over the divider near Chapulia on NH-5, 3 km from Soro police station and a pick-up van coming from the opposite direction dashed against the dumper.
 

The driver, helper and another man in the pick-up van died, police said adding that in another accident near Soro on NH-5 a motorcyclist was run over by a truck and he died on the spot.

Police said investigation was on and the identity of the deceased had not yet been ascertained. The pick-up van bore a West Bengal registration number.
