At least five persons of a marriage group, including the groom, were killed in a road accident in lower Assam's Bongaigaon district.
Nine persons, including the bride, were injured in the accident which took place late night yesterday on National Highway 31, a police officer said today.
The mini-bus carrying the marriage party rammed into a trailer ahead of it at Goraimari, police said.
The deceased were identified as Posan Ali (23), who was the groom, Hamid Ali (65), Nizam Ali (54), Chand Miya (38) and Samsul Haque (30). All of them are residents of Tilapara in Chapar area of Dhubri district.
The injured were admitted to a hospital, the police said.
The 15-member marriage party had come to Salabila in Manikpur area in Bongaigaon district last evening and were going back to Chapar after concluding the wedding ceremony when the mishap occured, the police added.
