A 50-year-old man was killed today morning by an elephant in Karamadai village, about 30 km from here, police said.
The man, a bamboo basket seller, had gone to answer nature's call at around 5 AM, but failed to notice two elephants there. One pachyderm grabbed him by its trunk and flung him to a distance, resulting in serious injuries, they said.
Hearing his screams, some relatives rushed to the spot and took him to Karamadai Government Hospital. However, he died on the way, police said.
