6 day workshop on 'pharmacogenomics' at JIPMER on from Aug 26

A six-day annual workshop on 'pharmacogenomics' will be held at JIPMER here from August 26.

Department of Pharmacology in JIPMER is conducting the workshop in association with the ICMR-administered Vector Control Research Centre, a release said.

Twenty-eight delegates from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka and Gujarat will participate in the workshop which is meant to impart hands-on training on molecular biology techniques essential for pharmacogenomics.

The release said pharmacogenomics is the science that associates genetic make up of an individual with drug metabolism and treatment response. It promises a new era of personalised medicine.
