71,000 pilgrims paid obeisance at Amarnath cave shrine

Over 71,000 pilgrims have paid obeisance at the cave shrine of Amarnath, while as many 1,621 people today left the Jammu base camp for Amarnath yatra in South Kashmir.

"Till date 71,103 yatris had darshan of the ice lingam at the holy cave", an official spokesman said.

On the fifth day of Amarnath yatra this year, 15,185 yatris paid obeisance at the holy cave.

As many 1,621 pilgrims today left the Jammu base camp for the yatra.

The latest batch, comprising 1,262 men and 359 women, left in a cavalcade of 49 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp at 5.15 AM, a police official said.
 

With today's batch, 10,005 pilgrims have left from the Jammu base camp for the pilgrimage.
