Eminent danseuse Alakananda Roy, credited with the turnaround of the lives of hard nosed convicts in Kolkata correctional homes with internationally feted Balmiki Protibha, plans to do a skit with underprivileged children.

Alakananda, who is currently directing a dance-recitation-song based composition on Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam told PTI she would love to do a skit on equality among all humans with the children of lesser mortals.

Speaking on the sidelines of internationally known NGO for the disadvantaged 'Hope Foundation's annual cultural festival comprising children from India and Australia, Alakananda said, "I do always believe children from the less privileged background are more God-gifted.

"I always love to work with people from troubled background, facing oddities in life and they deliver their best from the urge lying within."

Alakananda, who dwelt how the production on Nazrul work was conceptualized to spread the message of communal harmony, said, "We must work towards pulling back these children from negative influences in life."

"Our children had been practicing for past three months and music knowing no barrier they didn't have any difficulty to follow the steps of their Melbourne counterparts. What resulted is a wonderful medley of Indian and Western dance forms," a spokesperson of the foundation, having offices across the globe and 60 projects in Kolkata, said.
