Andhra Pradesh will get 511 TMC of water from Krishna river for the next one year and Telangana 299 TMC as the two states today decided on the quantum of water after two days of hectic parleys in which the Centre played a key role.
"Telangana will get 299 TMC of water, while Andhra Pradesh would be getting 511 TMC of water (from the Krishna river)," Telangana Irrigation Secretary S K Joshi told PTI after the conclusion of the meeting here.
The water sharing is based on the award of Krishna River Disputes Tribunal I, which had allocated 811 TMC of water to undivided Andhra Pradesh in 70s.

"It is a very important agreement," Joshi said while adding that the two states came forward for the purpose.
On the other hand, Andhra Pradesh Government officials said that the allocation of water from Krishna river was only for this water year between June 2015 and May 2016.
The allocation for Chennai city from Krishna river for drinking water purposes would also be ensured, the official added.
The Centre had convened the crucial meeting yesterday to discuss issues related to the notification of the jurisdiction of Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) on various projects within the provisions of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.
Officials had yesterday said that all projects across Krishna river in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, including Prakasam Barrage, are likely to come under the purview of KRMB.
Andhra Pradesh was last year bifurcated to create a separate state of Telangana.
