APSRTC employees threaten strike over pay hike, bifurcation

The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) Employees Union have threatened to go on a strike demanding pay revision and bifurcation.
The union's Vijayawada regional secretary K Prasad told reporters that the strike notice was issued yesterday.
Though the pay revsion had to be implemented from April 1, 2013, the management had yet to call the unions for discussion, he said.

Prasad further said that since the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, the trade unions have been demanding bifurcation of APSRTC into Andhra Pradesh and Telangana units.
Meanwhile, APSRTC, from yesterday, is diverting the buses between Vijayawada and Rajahmundry via Eluru, Tadepalligudem and Ravulapaem as the bridge on river Godavari near Rajahmundry is being repaired.
