Cardamom prices were up by 1.60 per cent at Rs 1,380 per kg in futures trade today as speculators enlarged their positions amid an upsurge in physical demand in the domestic spot market.
Besides, tight supplies from producing regions also added support to cardamom prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in December rose by Rs 21.70, or 1.60 per cent, to Rs 1,380 per kg with trading volume of 186 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in January was trading up by Rs 16.50, or 1.19 per cent, to Rs 1,408.20 per kg in 38 lots.
Traders said widening of positions by participants, driven by surge in demand at the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions mainly kept cardamom prices higher at futures trade.
