Punjab Congress today alleged that the Chief Electoral Officer of the state was "compromising his position" under the alleged pressure of ruling SAD.
PCC Chief Partap Singh Bajwa told reporters here that "CEO V K Singh, is at a position where he is supposed to act as saviour of democracy ... But he is compromising his position."
Former Chief Minister and Congress leader Amarinder Singh had already sought the CEO's removal for allegedly failing to perform his duty with honesty.

Bajwa said that the Congress would apprise the ECI about the role of Punjab CEO during the poll panel's proposed visit to the state.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal had said the Punjab CEO was appointed by the Election Commission of India and not by the State government.
While the BJP described the Congress allegations against the Punjab poll panel head as "serious", the CEO refused to make any comment on the issue.
Both Amarinder and Bajwa are contesting April 30 polls from Amritsar and Gurdaspur seats respectively.
