Desecration of Ambedkar's statue sparks protest

Locals led by BSP leader RC Lal today staged a protest against the alleged desecration of B R Ambedkar's statue in Hathauda village here.

The protesters demanded a strong action against the mischievous elements responsible for causing damage to the statue, police said.

A heavy contingent of policemen was rushed to the concerned village and the situation was brought to control on the assurance of filing a case against the culprits, they said.

An FIR was later lodged against unknown youth following a complaint by the BSP leader, police said.

We are investigating the case, they added.
