Explosives seized from Naxal hideout in Gondia district

Explosives and live detonators were seized today from a Naxal hideout near here in Maharashtra, police said.

Acting on a tip off, personnel from Anti-Naxal Cell, C-60 Commando Force and local police jointly raided the hideout in a forest range near Kosambi village and seized 6 kg of explosives kept in two aluminium containers, concrete mixture, three live detonators, electric wires and iron rods, among other items, they said.

The area lies under Chichgarh Police Station's jurisdiction and is part of Naxal-affected Deori tehsil of Gondia district.

According to the police, a local resident spotted around 15 armed Naxals, 5 to 6 of them women, near Kosambi yesterday.
 

He immediately alerted the local police who along with personnel from Anti-Naxal Cell, C-60 and Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad launched a search operation under supervision of District Superintendent of Police Dilip Bhujbal and busted the hideout.
