A 45-year-old factory worker died today when a gas cylinder exploded while being unloaded at Nehru Ground market of the city.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident took place at about 4 pm when the cylinders were being unloaded from the canter at a workshop. One of the cylinders, used in gas welding, was being carried by Vijay Kumar inside the workshop when it exploded.

The worker died on the spot.

The impact of explosion was so powerful that pieces of the cylinder damaged a car parked at a distance from the workshop and an auto rickshaw was also damaged.

Two men travelling in the auto rickshaw were injured and rushed to nearby government-run B K Hospital.

"The case seems to be an accidental explosion of the cylinder. However, it is yet to be ascertained if there were any security lapses too," Bharat Kumar, SHO police station Kotwali Faridabad said.

The body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem, he said.
