Former CRPF personnel arrested with huge cache of arms

An expelled CRPF personnel has been arrested and a huge cache of illegal arms recovered from his possession at Raikheda village.

Prakash Singh, an expelled CRPF personnel was arrested yesterday at Raikheda village by the Special Investigation team of Sonipat police, Superintendent of Police Abhishek Garg said.

The man was nabbed based on a suspicion as he was roaming in the area with a box, Garg said, adding that a huge cache of illegal arms was recovered from his possession.

The booty included one 9mm pistol, .315 bore gun, one .32 bore illegal country-made pistol, two .12 bore country-made pistols and 45 live cartridges, he said.
 

The accused confessed to his crime and said that he had brought these weapons from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, the SP said.

A case under Arms act was registered against Singh at Gangaur police station, Garg said.

He further revealed that the accused was expelled from CRPF in 1998, the SP said.

Singh had been arrested in past in connection with various attempts to murder and possession of illegal arms cases, police added.
