Freight rates for nine-tonne pay load section for select centres dropped by up to Rs 1,000 in the local truck transport market today following excess position of trucks against restricted cargo movements.
Transporters said easy availability of trucks as compared to restricted cargo movements, mainly led to the decline in freight rates for select destinations.
Delhi to Chandigarh freight rates eased by Rs 1,000 to Rs 17,500, while Ludhiana freight rates were lower by Rs 500 at Rs 19,000.
Rates to Jaipur and Kanpur also fell by Rs 500 each to Rs 15,000 and Rs 19,000.
Elsewhere, freight rates for other centres remained unchanged.
