The higher ridges of Himachal Pradesh today had fresh spell of moderate snowfall with state capital Shimla and surrounding areas getting lashed by a hailstorm in the evening.
The mercury dropped by few notches in Shimla as hailstorm lashed the town forcing people to rush indoors, rendering busy markets a deserted look.
Keylong and Pangi tribal areas received 10 cm of snow while Rohtang and Kunzam passes and Kalpa had10 cm and 4 cm of snow.

Famous tourist destination Manali received 9 mm of rains while Jubbal and Bharmaur recorded 5 mm rains, followed by Bhuntar and Dalhousie 4 mm, Udaipur 3 mm, Seobagh and Kalpa 2.4mm and Shimla 2 mm.
The high altitude tribal areas reeled under piercing cold wave as minimum temperatures stayed 10 to 16 degree below freezing point while Keylong and Kalpa recordeda low of minus 7.1 degree and minus 1.0 degree, followed by Manali 2 degree.
The local MeT office has predicted rains or thundershowers in mid hills for tomorrow.
