Geelani urges SAARC to intervene in J&K

Hardline Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani today asked SAARC to intervene in Jammu and Kashmir and listed six Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) to create an atmosphere conducive for peace and resolution of the issue.
The international community, especially a regional forum like SAARC, of which India is a member, has a special responsibility to intervene and uphold International law by fulfilling its promises and obligations towards the people of Jammu and Kashmir, Geelani said in a letter addressed to secretary-general of SAARC, Arjun Bahadur Thapa.
The Hurriyat leader said a good beginning could be made to create an atmosphere conducive for peace and resolution if the SAARC urges India to take the six CBMs.
