Hydrocarbon project:50 held for staging road roko in Thanjavur

Fifty people were today arrested for attempting to stage a road roko at Sanoorapatti near here in protest against the proposed hydrocarbon project of the Centre at Neduvasal in Pudukottai district.

Police said the protesters were arrested as they tried to block the Sanoorapatti-Kandarvakottai road this morning.

The village youngsters had two days back announced that they will observe a fast protest against the project.

However, police had refused to give permission for the same.

Meanwhile, the agitation against the project entered the 20th day today at Neduvasal.
