After the evacuation of 46 Indian nurses from trouble-hit Iraq earlier this month, Kerala has sought the Centre's help for safe return of nurses working in hospitals in strife-torn Libya.
This was conveyed to relatives of nurses working in Libya by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today, officials said.
The parents of nurses, mostly from Kottayam and adjoining areas, had met here yesterday and sought urgent intervention of the Chief Minister for the safe return of their children who were keen to come home.

Chandy told them that he had taken up the matter with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and also talked to the Indian Ambassador to Libya.
Chandy said the information he had was that there was no need to worry as all the nurses working in Tripoli and other towns are safe. Arrangements would be made by the embassy for their home-bound passage after Ramadan holidays are over.
As many as 46 nurses, all Keralites except one from Tamil Nadu, were successfully brought back home after they were held captive for a few days by militants in Iraq earlier this month.
