Man arrested with pistol in Srinagar

A man was arrested after he was found in possession of a pistol in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, police said today.

Acting on a specific information, a joint party of police and paramilitary CRPF apprehended one person near Lal Mandi in Raj Bagh area of the city last evening, a police spokesman said.

He said the arrested person was identified as Asadullah Parray and police recovered one Chinese pistol, a magazine and six rounds from him.

Police has registered a case and investigation has been taken up, the spokesman said, without divulging more details.
