Man beaten to death over suspicion of being thief

A man was beaten to death allegedly by a group villagers who suspected him of being a thief in Bijapur village here, the police said today.

A farmer spotted three men allegedly attempting to steal the electric motor of a tube well in his filed. He called other villagers who caught hold one of them and beat him to death, said SHO Subhash Rathore.

The other two managed to escape, he added.

Body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem, Rathore said, adding that the victim is yet to be identified.
