A 25-year-old man was killed after being run over by a truck which had initially hit his scooty, throwing him on the road, in Naubasta town of Yashoda Nagar, police said today.
The incident took place last night when Anup, who used to work at a petrol pump, was returning home on the scooty.
His scooty was hit by the speeding truck from behind at Yashoda Nagar bypass near Naubasta, throwing him off the two wheeler. In order to flee, the truck driver ran over Anup, leading to the latter's on-the-spot death, they said.
The police reached the spot late last night and informed the family with the help of documents and mobile number recovered after which the body was sent for post-mortem.
Police is probing the incident and efforts to nab the absconding truck driver are underway.
