A young man was today sentenced to life imprisonment by a local court in Uttar Dinajpur district for raping a seven-year-old girl last year.
Fast track Session Judge-II Sulagna Ghosh Dastidar sentenced 27-year-old Uttam Das of Chanditala area under Raiganj police station for raping the girl on March 17, 2013 when she was alone at home.
The victim's mother had gone out to work at the time of the incident.
