Man lynched to death

A 30-year-old man from Valiv of

Vasai in Palghar district was lynched by an armed mob on suspicion of being a thief in Gangdipada locality, police said today.

Police have taken six persons into custody this connection, said assistant inspector Sunil Solshe of Valiv police station.

The incident took place late last night, he said, adding that the victim was identified as Suresh Mewalal Yadav, a resident of Dhanbag Pandripada of Waliv.

His body with severe wounds was found at around 6:30 AM and is sent for postmortem.

Police said that the victim was attacked with sticks and bamboos.

An offence has been registered under various sections of IPC.
