A man, alleged to be a mastermind of the theft of Rs 17 lakh worth solar plates from NTPC Jajru Ballabgarh five months ago, has been arrested, police said today.
Acting on a tip off, a Crime branch team raided a premise, under Tappal police station, in Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh and arrested Ram Kumar, the mastermind of the theft, Inspector of Crime Branch (Sector-30 Faridabad), Narendra Chauhan said.
Ram Kumar, a resident of Maharajgarh area in Aligarh, along with his gang had stolen 38 solar plates from NTPC Jajru Ballabgarh in February last.

Chauhan said the market value of these plates was estimated to be Rs 17 lakh, and added that 33 of the stolen plates have been recovered from the accused.
Other members of the gang were yet to be arrested, he said.
Kumar was produced in court on yesterday and remanded to judicial custody.
