Medium sugar drops on poor demand

The prices of medium sugar dropped at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to poor demand from stockists and retailers amid ample supply positions.

While, small sugar edged up on mild offtake from millers and bulk consumers.

Medium sugar (M-30) fell by Rs 19 per quintal to Rs 3,152/3,292 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 3,152/ 3,311.

However, small sugar (S-30) inched up by a Re per quintal to Rs 3,023/3,162 from Rs 3,022/3,162 previously.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,023/3,162 (Rs 3,022/3,162.
 

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,152/3,292 (Rs 3,152/3,311).
