Medium sugar drops on sluggish demand, good supply

Medium sugar prices dropped at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to reduced offtake by stockists and bulk consumers amid lower demand from upcountry buyer.

While, small sugar variety continued to trade mixed following alternate bouts of buying and selling coupled with adequate supply.

Medium sugar (M-30) shed Rs 10/24 per quintal to Rs 2,941/3,162 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 2,951/3,186.

Small sugar (S-30), however, were quoted at Rs 2,832/2,981 per quintal as compared to Rs 2,850/2,972 previously.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,941/3,162 (Rs 2,951/3,186).
 

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,832/2,981 (Rs 2,850/2,972).
