Missing boy traced

A 20-year-old MBBS student

from Chennai, who had been allegedly kidnapped to extort money from his parents, was traced here, police said today.

Ajmal Aslam went for classes on Tuesday and did not return. His mother Wahitha received a call next morning asking for Rs 1.5 crore for releasing her son.

The caller also warned the mother that her son would be killed if they registerd police complaint.

When the man called her later she asked him where the money should be paid and it was disconnected, police said.

Aslam's parents lodged a complaint with the Chrompet Police Station following which special teams were formed to trace the boy.
 

Initial investigation revealed that some of the friends of Ajmal were also missing. Police later traced Ajmal at the highway near here yesterday. He would be taken to Chennai, police said.
