Hawkers in the state capital today resumed distribution of newspapers as the logjam between them and newspaper owners over commission came to an end after 11 days.

An understanding was reached between newspaper owners and hawkers' association following several rounds of parleys, a representative of Uttar Pradesh Hawkers Association, Manoj Nigam, said.

The commission over which the stalemate was continuing has been restored and a couple of other demands concerning the hawkers have also been met, Nigam said.

The hawkers had gone on strike as their commission was lowered from September 1, he said.

The hawkers' association had also met Principal Secretary, Information, Navneet Sehgal over their demands following which a deputy director-level officer was appointed to find a way out.
