: To enhance the safety and security of passengers at the city airport, a police outpost was opened on Aerodrome Road today.
The outpost will have police personnel doing round the clock duty in three shifts, along with an expert from Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, city police commissioner A Amalraj said on the sidelines of the inaugural.
Vehicles entering the airport, particularly to the cargo section, would be thoroughly checked and the camera installed there will capture the image of the vehicle and the driver, he said.

Moreover, the recently opened control room at Sitra junction would be linked to the network, so that police could keep strict vigil and monitor movement of persons and vehicles in the vicinity through 12 cameras functioning there, he said.
Airport Director Prakash Reddy said instructions had been given to have such an outpost, following the recent attack on the Pathankot airbase.
Besides the CISF, under whose security network the airport comes, the outpost will further strengthen the security, he said.
