Pak actress shot dead in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province

A Pashto actress was today gunned down in front of her mother by unidentified militants in Pakistan's restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Musarat Shaheen, along with her mother, was on her way to a nearby market for shopping in Nowshera district when some unidentified bike-borne assailants opened fire.

Shaheen was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her bullet injuries.

The accused, meanwhile, managed to flee the spot. A case of murder was registered but no arrests have been made.

The motive behind the murder was not immediately known. Further investigations were underway.
