An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) was arrested by police for allegedly accepting bribe from a woman here, police said today.
The ASI, in-charge of Udhanwan police post under Ghoman police station in the district, was caught red-handed while accepting bribe from the woman, police said.
Karnail Kaur, a resident of Dhandoli village in Sangrur district, had lodged a complaint with the department that ASI Balbir Singh was demanding Rs 1 lakh from her daughter for keeping her name out of an on-going property dispute.
However, the deal was fixed for Rs 35,000, police said.
The police laid a trap and Singh was arrested red-handed with the bribe money, police said.
