Some programme broadcast or telecast signals from neighbouring countries including Pakistan are received at border regions of India, the government said today.

This information was shared in the Lok Sabha by Minister of State for I&B Rajyavardhan Rathore in a written reply to a member's question.

According to the minister, several High power FM transmitters of the All India Radio (AIR) including seven along Indo-Pak border and six along the Indo-Nepal border have been approved.

In addition four transmitters have also been approved to be set up on locations near the Indo-Bangladesh border.

In a written reply to another question, Rathore said there is no proposal to make DD and AIR as separate corporate entities which is under the ministry's consideration.

The funds allocated under the scheme for 2016-17 is Rs 15 lakh. This amount was Rs 20 lakh in 2015-16 and Rs 30 lakh in 2014-15.
