Raj BJP gets 6 Dy Mayors, 29 vice chairmen in civic boards

In the last phase of civic bodies formation today, six Deputy Mayors of BJP were elected unopposed in municipal corporations of Jodhpur, Jaipur, Bikaner, Udaipur, Kota, and Bharatpur, an official of the Rajasthan state Election Commission said.

In the ongoing process of election in 46 civic bodies which went to poll on November 22, BJP won 29 vice chairmen posts in Municipal Councils and Municipal Boards, while the Congress's five councillors were elected vice chairmen, and Independents in six civic bodies, the official said.

BJP's Manoj Bhardwaj was elected unopposed as Dy Mayor in Jaipur Municipal Corporation, while Devendra Salech in Jodhpur-MC, Suita Vyas in Kota-MC, Lokesh Dwivedi in Udaipur-MC, Ashok Kumar in Bikaner-MC, and Indrapal Singh in Bharatpur-MC.
 

A detailed report on vice chairmen's election was being finalised at RSEC, and would be posted on website tonight, the official said.

In yesterday's election of Mayors, BJP councillors won Mayors post in Bhartpur, Kota, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaipur, and Bikaner MCs, and the chairmen post in 24 civic bodies.

Congress had won chairmen in six civic bodies.

Meanwhile, Jaipur Municipal Corporation's newly-elected Dy Mayor met this afternoon Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.

Raje asked him to make a plan of balanced development of the state capital in a phased-manner in next five years. She also directed that a suitable night shelter be erected for poors during ongoing winter season.

Jaipur Mayor Nirmal Nahata was present on the occasion.
