Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today condoled the death of Phillip Hughes, saying the Australian cricketer had a lot to offer to world cricket.
Hughes, hit by a bouncer in a domestic game, could not recover from the injury and passed away today at St. Vincent Hospital in Sydney.
"Hughes untimely death following an unexpected accident on the field has come as a shock to every sports lover across the world. The beauty of sports is the display of grit and determination of the players and at 25, Hughes had a lot to offer to the world of cricket," Sonowal said in his condolence message.
"I pray to god to give the family the strength to deal with the tragedy," Sonowal added.
