Four MLAs of the Kirori Lal Meena led National People's Party in Rajasthan will support NDA nominee Ram Nath Kovind in the presidential election.
NPP MLA and party convener in the state, Meena, said today that all the four legislators of his party will support Kovind.
"As per the direction of the party's central leadership, we have decided to support the NDA nominee in the presidential election," Meena, a former BJP leader, told PTI.
He kept silent when asked about whether he will join the BJP again.
BJP state president Ashok Parnami exuded confidence that after NPP, independent MLAs would also support Kovind.
"NPP will support Kovind in the presidential elections and we expect that independents will also extend their support," Parnami told reporters.
In the 200 member Rajasthan Assembly, the BJP has 161 MLAs, Congress 24, NPP four, National Unionist Zamindara Party two, BSP two and seven are independent.
