Robbers stab transporter, loot Rs 23 lakh

A transporter was injured when unidentified robbers allegedly stabbed him to loot Rs 23 lakh outside a bank in Red Square Market here today, police said.

Manoj, a resident of Aggrawal Colony and owner of a transport company, withdrew Rs 26 lakh at a private bank.

Of the amount, he gave Rs 3 lakh to someone in the bank and kept rest of the money in a bag.

As Manoj came out of the bank and sat in his car, the robbers, with their faces covered, suddenly came on bikes and stabed him, police said.

After injuring him, they snatched the bag containing money and fled, police said.
 

It is suspected that the robbers were chasing the Manoj right from the bank, police said.

He is said to be out of danger.
