Robbers loot Rs 19 lakh from bank in UP

Armed robbers looted Rs 19 lakh from a bank at Jalali in the district, police said here today.

Six masked men forced their way into a branch of Canara Bank at gunpoint last evening. They looted the cash box and then broke into the strong room, it said.

The robbers damaged all CCTV cameras and took away the hard disks, police said.

The incident took place shortly before the bank was about to close for the day, it said.

Police spokesman Vinod Payal said a hunt had been launched in the district and neighbouring areas to nab the robbers.
