Students from various schools in the city today presented flowers to motorists violating traffic rules and urged them to follow the rules, as part of a month-long awareness drive by the police against traffic violation.
The students gifted flowers to motorists who were stopped by police constables for flouting rules at Holy Child School intersection, Circle Officer (CO) traffic P P Karanwal said.
They exhorted the traffic violators to follow rules like wearing helmets, not jumping red lights, using seat belts and avoiding use of mobile phones while driving.
Despite stringent measures taken by traffic police, violators are not afraid of strict punishment levied on them. But after such a gesture by students, they promised that they wouldn't violate rules in future, Karanwal said.
