Anil Kumar of Dimapur was suffering from malaria and later developed pneumonia. He was affected with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, Dr Gireesh Kumar, Emergency Head of Amrita Hospital Here, where the patient was shifted, said.

The relatives of the patient requested the hospital to transfer him to Kochi.

The patient was on ventilator when he was shifted and will continue to remain so for at least two weeks, Dr Gireesh said.
