Seven injured in group clash over land dispute in UP

Seven persons, including five women, were injured in a clash between two groups over a land dispute under Fatehpur police station area here, police said today.

The incident occurred yesterday in Dhanwad village when two persons, Sattar and Saleem, confronted each other over a land dispute, which snowballed into a violent clash as their supporters joined them, police said.

The two groups indulged into firing and stone pelting, in which at least seven persons were injured.

Police rushed to the spot upon getting the information and brought the situation under control, they said.

Those injured, identified as Kausar, Nazron, Sabrina, Manish, Shamim, Pappu and Munawwar, were admitted to a hospital.
 

A case has been registered, they said, adding six persons have been arrested.

Security has been tightened in the village and additional police deployed in the area, they said.
