A sickle, suspected to have used for killing a Hindu Munnani functionary in the district last year, was today recovered from a drainage water disposal yard in Ukkadam in the city, police said.

Based on the information given by Subair, one of the murder accused arrested, the CB-CID which is probing the case, was carrying out search for the weapon for the last one week in the yard.

Sasikumar (36), district spokesperson of the Munnani, was murdered with sickles by a gang in two wheelers when he was returning home in Subramaniampalayam, on the outskirts, on September 22 last year.

The CB-CID had arrested Abu Thahir, Saddam Hussain and Subair in connection with the murder.

Subair said to have confessed to the murder and based on the information provided by him, a search was conducted to retrieve two sickles used in the murder, which were thrown in the yard.

After removing slush and other solid waste from the yard, CB-CID retrieved one sickle and a search was on for the another, police said.
