Small sugar declines on persistent selling

Small sugar prices declined further at the Vashi wholesale market here today on persistent selling by millers amidst weak demand from consumers.

Meanwhile, medium sugar ruled stable in the absence of any worthwhile buying.

Small sugar prices (S-30) by Rs 7 per quintal to Rs 2,162/2,255 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 2,162/2,262.

Medium sugar (M-30) was quoted at Rs 2,240/2,502 per quintal.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,162/2,255 (Rs 2,162/2,262).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,240/2,502 (Rs 2,240/2,502).
