The students had gathered for a condolence meet to mourn the death of the 19-year-old student, police said, adding that the situation was soon brought under control.
The girl, a student of computer science department, had died yesterday on the way to the hospital after she had fainted in the college campus.
Students allege the girl died due to delay in taking her to hospital, an allegation which was denied by the college management.
The college administration also ruled out possibility of any anti-social element behind the violence, said the entire episode was a result of "misunderstanding."
It said the college would not file any official complaint against the students.
The post-mortem report of the student is still awaited.
