Sub-Himalayan districts of WB receive widespread rain

The Sub-Himalayan districts of West Begal received widespread rain keeping the mercury low, while temperatures in Gangetic plains of the state remained within the 36 degrees Celsius mark today.

While Bankura recorded the day's highest temperature in West Bengal at 36.4 degrees Celsius, Asansol at 28.4 degrees Celsius was the coolest in the Gangetic plains, the regional Met Department here stated.

Kolkata recorded maximum temperature at 35.7 degrees Celsius, but high humidity caused discomfort among the denizens.

In Darjeeling hills, the maximum temperature was 17 degrees Celsius, while the lowest temperature was recorded at 11 degrees Celsius.

Jalpaiguri in North Bengal received 70.4 mm rainfall, while in Cooch Behar the precipitation was recorded at 40.4 mm, the Met department said.
 

The weatherman has forecast possibility of rain and thundershower in Gangetic West Bengal and widespread rains in the four districts of Darjeeling, Cooch Behar, Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri districts in the next two days.
