Sugar gains on good offtake

Prices of both varieties of sugar gained at the Vashi wholesale market today due to sustained upcountry demand amidst adequate arrivals from millers.

Small sugar (S-30) climbed by Rs 28 per quintal to Rs 3,130/3,202 from Monday's closing level of Rs 3,102/3,128 per quintal.

Medium sugar (M-30) moved up by Rs 4 per quintal to Rs 3,206/3,382 as against Rs 3,202/3,382 previously.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,130/3,202 (Rs 3,102/3,128.

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,206/3,382 (Rs 3,202/3,382).
